Abstract

Study carried out to know the environmental situation
that exists at the Instituto Tecnológico de Acapulco
(ITA); investigating the institution's environmental
conditions; based on the perception of students, the
opinion of teaching and managerial officials.
Mixed methodology was applied. In which
participant observation was made, the application of
an Environmental Pre-audit, the application of the
Single Format of Urban Solid Waste Management
Plans in Educational Institutions and finally a
questionnaire to students with a Likert-like rating
scale, containing five response options.
The results indicate that the environmental aspects of
the institution are poor with areas of opportunity in
the field of Environmental Education; because its
objective is to educate to change society, a
comprehensive education that promotes a better
quality of life and quality of the environment, focused
on educating the subject (individual or community)
and not only on improving the environment around it.
So the role of the Acapulco Institute of Technology in
this context is very important as it is up to it to
propose measures to protect the environment and
promote sustainable development
