The development of mathematical models with
technical and scientific bases is important for
making decisions in forest management. The
objective of this work was to adjust stem
volume models to generate a double entry
volume table in a commercial forest plantation
of Pinus maximinoi H.E. Moore. With
dasometric information from 20 healthy and
vigorous trees, four classic stem volume models
were adjusted: Spurr, Honer, Thornber and
Schumacher-Hall. The evaluation and selection
of the best model was carried out based on the
goodness of fit indicators where the
Schumacher-Hall model showed the best results
in the adjusted coefficient of determination (>
98%); low values in the mean square root of the
error (<0.0311m3) and average bias (0.0006
m3). The White test showed that the distribution
of variances was homogeneous, reaching a
value of P = 0.2428, while the Shapiro-Wilk
test indicated that the distribution of the
residuals presents a random pattern, which
complies with the normality assumption. (P =
0.9484).
