The Tixtlancingo ejido has an area of 19,380
hectares, with an area of conifers equivalent to
6,805 hectares. Field trips were carried out to
examine an approximate area of 2334,033
hectares, which presents the type of pine-oak
vegetation. The objective of this study was to
identify the diameter categories and the affected
volume of pine. The bark beater was found
affecting Pinus maximinoi and P. pringlei in an
area of 164,001 hectares. The inventory was
carried out in 16 polygons and 2,354 plagued
trees were counted; 809 of P. pringlei and 1545
P. maximinoi, present in diameters of 20, 25,
30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60. The greatest
attack by Dendroctonus mexicanus Hopkins
and D. frontalis Simmermann occurred in the
diameter categories of 20, 25 and 45
centimeters. Additionally, to calculate the
standing volume, the Diameter at Chest Height
(DBH) and the height were measured. A total
infested volume of 2914.21 m³r.t.a was
recorded. and distributed in 264.84 m³r.t.a. for
P. pringlei and 2649.37 m³r.t.a. in P.
maximinoi. By relating the total volume of
trees, with the total area planted, the total real
stocks plagued per hectare (17.76 m3 r.t.a.)
were recorded.
