Abstract

In Mexico, according to the National Health and
Nutrition Survey (ENSANUT, 2012), overweight
and obesity affect 7 out of 10 Mexican adults. In
2013 the Port of Acapulco reached the first place in
cases of obesity, informed the C. Lourdes Carranza
Bernal, Chief of Medical Benefits Delegation of the
IMSS. This situation has increased the demand for
services that prevent the current health problems
among the population, business opportunities
related to health, began to grow.
The annual participation of the sports clubs industry
Fitness takes more weight, even the trend is that
they triple their participation in 2018. (El Universal,
2015). However, retention rates are one of the
biggest concerns facing the
Fitness industry (Filo, Funk and Alexander, 2008)
and is that on average 40% of the total consumer
base is lost each year (Sawyer and Smith, 1999).
Social media has emerged as a major
communication method for many sports and
recreational activities (Bayne & Cianfrone, 2013) in
order to build lasting relationships with participants
and facilitate offline behaviors (Valenzuela et al.,
2009).
The methodology developed in the present
investigation was descriptive since it made a
description of the services with which the industry
counts.
