El “chilate” bebida tradicional de la cultura mixteca del municipio de Ayutla de los Libres, Guerrero, México.

The traditional drink "chilate" is one of the main
culture beverage of the mixteca in the municipal of
Ayutla de los Libres, which is of a sweet, sparkling
and refreshing taste. In continuing the preparation of
this drink help to preserve this cultural legacy that
has been transmitted from generation to generation,
and which is part of the typical gastronomy of the
native people of this municipal. This drink is
prepared in traditional festivities and special dates
in this culture, as well as also is part of their custom
to consume it daily at noon, since it gives them
energy to endure a long work day. It should be
emphasized that for the present investigation the
ethnographic method and the direct participant
observation tool was used; to see the production
process of cocoa, the preparation of the drink and
the cultural importance it has for the culture. The
people who have the interest in knowing the process
of cocoa production and the process of elaboration
of the chilate can visit Na Savi communities that
belong to the municipal to taste a delicious cup of
this drink.
