Productive behavior of fattening lambs, in initial stage, using alternative supplementation with guandul (Cajanus cajan)
Keywords:
Productive behavior, guandul, gupplementationAbstract
With the objective of evaluating the
productive response (feed intake, weight gain,
feed conversion) of sheep in the initial stage
of fattening, four different alternative
supplements were tested (100% ground corn
cob MM; 50% ground corn cob with 50%
commercial feed, MM+AC; 50% ground corn
cob with 50% guandul Alberje, MM+GA;
50% ground corn cob with 50% guandul
Veracurz, MM+GV). Thus, only in
consumption was a higher level (p<0.05) with
MM+GV compared to MM and MM+AC
(6.0827 vs. 5.8165 and 5.7188 kg), while the
feed conversion was not influenced (p <0.05)
by any composition and type of supplement
(range of 1.0713 to 1.3341). It is to be expected
that, in an economic sense, use of pigeon pea
can be made possible when these options
have lower costs, compared to conventional
supplements.
