Abstract

Participatory Rural Assessment as a tool for
diagnosis and community planning, serves the
agrarian nuclei, to define strategic actions for the
care, conservation and use of their natural resources,
in this case the Intercultural State University,
supports the San Communal Goods Juan Bautista
Coápala de Atlixtac, in order to identify the projects
that generate sustainable development for the
community.
It begins, facilitating the methodology of
participatory diagnosis, where the students are
involved in the development of techniques such as:
the transect, interviews with key informants, basic
map design etc; Information that nourishes
participatory planning workshops, where the
community defines the problems and the
alternatives for their attention, and with it, generate
a plan that allows the community to improve their
As a result of this work the priorities of the agrarian
community were defined, a 5-year plan of strategic
actions and project management mechanisms was
presented. Among them are the care and
conservation of an area for payment for
environmental services, the redesign of its internal
regulations, and the use of the wide variety of
medicinal plants in the area quality of life.
