Abstract

Year after year, ranchers have large losses of
livestock and many of them are indirectly attributed
to vampire bats because they can transmit the virus
of rabies, in the same way every year are scheduled
actions to decimate populations , however we do not
have an estimate of how effective the control is and
to what degree they affect the population of
vampires, given the above the objective of this work
was to try to estimate the mortality of vampires
through a topical treatment for control of
populations. The data recorded over a period of 4
years (2013-2016) during this time were captured
3376 individuals of which only 3024 were treated
and it was estimated that by means of this method of
population control it was achieved a death of 60,480
vampires.
