The research work was carried out at the Faculty of
Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of the
Guerrero Autonomous University, the germination
of seed of Pachycereus weberi (JM Coult.) Backeb.
Was evaluated in different soaking treatments in
water for three localities of the Glen´s Zopilote,
Guerrero (Xalitla, Milpillas and Zumpango de
Neri), 500 seeds per site were evaluated. The
treatments were: 0 (control), 6, 12, 18 and 24 h
soaking in water; The following variables were
measured: Fruit diameter, Fruit length, Number of
seeds per fruit, Weight of 100 seeds per fruit and
Number of seeds germinated at 15 and 30 days after
sowing; the data were analyzed using the techniques
of Analysis of Variance and Test of Multiple
Comparison of Means (Tukey, α=0.05). Of the 1500
seeds germinated 1124 representing 74. 93% of the
total.) Zumpango de Neri´s seeds , soaked for 12 h
had the highest germination value (94%) The
highest germination percentage was obtained in the
treatment of 6 h. The larger fruits from Zumpango
had the highest number of seeds and recorded the
value higher germination.
