Keywords:
Socioeconomic characteristics, ocial vulnerability, poverty, Afro-Mexican populationAbstract
The present research aims to reveal the
sociodemographic characteristics that affect the
conditions of social vulnerability of the Afro-Mexican
population of the municipality of Copala, Guerrero.
Although there are many anthropological,
ethnographic and sociological investigations, so far
this article is one of the first that addresses the AfroMexican population of Guerrero from a territorial
perspective. In that order of ideas, the present work is
the result of the processing of official statistical
information published by the Instituto Nacional de
Geografía y Estadística (INEGI) and the review of the
specialized literature on categories such as social
vulnerability and poverty, due to its relevance for the
analysis of the adverse socioeconomic situation of
Afro-descendants in the state of Guerrero. Based on
the above, it was possible to identify the
sociodemographic contrasts that exist in its fifty-eight
localities; however, a recurring feature was the
presence of a significant degree of marginalization.
