Creación de un índice sintético para medir la sustentabilidad en los destinos turísticos de Acapulco, Taxco y Zihuatanejo.

The main objective of this study is the construction of
a synthetic index that measures the sustainable aspect
of tourism in the study tourist destinations, Acapulco,
Taxco and Zihuatanejo. This applied research uses a
quantitative, retrospective, non-experimental, and
longitudinal methodology. The data for carrying out
this research were obtained from the Statistical
Yearbooks of the State of Guerrero for the period
2010-2016 published by INEGI, as well as the
Statistical Compendium of Tourism in Mexico,
published by the National System of Statistical
Information of the Tourism Sector of Mexico
(Datatur). With a total of 21 indicators, this synthetic
index was constructed by the statistical method of
Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the results
were analyzed for each aspect of sustainability. The
tourist destination with a high index of economic
sustainability was Zihuatanejo. The tourist
destination that showed a high index of sustainability
in the social and environmental dimensions it was
Acapulco.
