Impacto socioespacial de la migración rural en Guerrero, México: Estudio de caso en la comunidad de Zalpizaco, municipio de Quechultenango
Keywords:

Zalpizaco is a community of Nahuatl indigenous
origin located in the Central region of the state of
Guerrero. Both economic and political social
changes have been present due to the constant
migrations of its population, mainly going to urban
areas within the same Mexican territory. The
objective was to analyze the socio-spatial impact of
migration in the Salpizaco community. A qualitative
methodology was applied to obtain primary
information, based on interviews with key actors in
the community; On the other hand, the revision of the
INEGI censuses was consulted, to know the
population behavior of the community over time.
The results reveal that the community experiences
three types of migration: a circular migration (round
trip); a long-term migration and a permanent
migration. The latter is the one that predominates;
most of them finally abandon their place of origin.
This population behavior has transformed the socioterritorial structures of the community: abandonment
of homes, farmland, stagnation of the adult
population and a drastic decrease in the child
population.
